MIDDAY on Saturday saw the start of a triathlete's 24-hour non-stop fundraiser at Burrator Reservoir in aid of Bere Alston Primary School. Nathan Newton, 28, rode his bike for 12 hours and then ran the next 12 hours — clocking up 145 miles on his bike and running 46 miles. Nathan received back up every pedal and step of the way by fellow BATs (Bere Alston Trekkers) members, his family and other friends from Bere Alston. Nathan said: 'I am now in pieces! Don't know exactly how much was raised but it is over £500. Thanks go to everyone who sponsored me and the businesses who donated raffle prizes. Also everyone who supported me on the day.' The sponsors were Tamar Trails Tree Surfing, Dot-teas, Manor Garage, Kinetik sports therapy, Number 12 hair salon, Holistic Massage, Active and co, Frank Elford Sports and SJK Contractors.
