Callington Colts 1

Tavistock Town 1

A PENALTY save in the last minute by Nathan Holland gave Tavistock a hard earned point away to Callington Colts.

With less than a minute left of stoppage time Holland had raced from his goal to intercept a Callington attack but only succeeded in bringing down the Colts forward for a penalty. It seemed that all Tavistock's hard defensive work would be undone but Holland dived to his left to turn away the kick.

The first half had been largely uneventful with both teams finding it difficult to create any chances. Tavistock did have a penalty appeal turned down after they claimed a defender handled the ball from a free kick. Colts had the ball in the net but it was turned in by a player in an offside position.

In the second half but the balance of play was with Callington as they pressed forward. However, the deadlock was broken when after fine play from Northmore gave Hicks the chance to fire home from just inside the box. Tavistock then had more of the game but were undone by a lack of concentration to allow Colts to tap in from close range.

With time running out Tavistock had the chance to give Town the lead when good play down the left gave McLung a rare sight of goal but he was unable to find a convincing finish.

n This week Town U16s are at home on Sunday in the Devon FA U16 Cup v Bovey Tracey with an 11.30am kick off at Tavistock Community Football Club.
