I FOUND out on February 3 that a petition was taken around to our address concerning the position of the village hall at Meldon.
I am absolutely mystified as to why, as a resident of Okehampton town, I should be approached about a village hall that is planned for Okehampton Hamlets.
The person who presented the petition seemed to want support for building a new hall at Meldon. They said they were against siting a new hall on the showground. What is it to do with me? Meldon Village Hall is well over three miles away, I never use it and anyway the new hall is supposed to be for Okehampton Hamlets.
Most of the people who live in Okehampton Hamlets live on the opposite side of town to Meldon. How do they expect old people, disabled people or even young people to get to the hall when there is no public transport?
