A POPULAR teacher at an East Cornwall school retired from teaching, after being involved in the profession in the county for 33 years. Tessa Lewis began her career in St Albans in Hertfordshire in 1968, before moving to Cornwall in 1974. Mrs Lewis was appointed to Harrowbarrow School 20 years ago, as a part-time teacher responsible for raising the standard of music in the school. Over the years she eventually became full time, and ultimately became the main Years 5 and 6 teacher. Thanks to her efforts the school now boasts a full orchestra and choir. Headteacher Mark Tamblyn thanked Mrs Lewis for her high standard of committed service, which has included more than 80 public performances.
