PUPILS at St Peter's Junior School in Tavistock will be making melodious music thanks to a donation of new instruments.

The school was invited to take part in a Channel 4 documentary 'Don't Stop the Music' — a campaign by pianist James Rhodes to save music education — along with more than 21,000 primary schools across the UK. The schools had to show their need for instruments and those that showed the greatest need and the most commitment through a short video uploaded to YouTube, were selected to receive instruments.

St Peter's was one of 150 schools lucky enough to be selected and received 20 violins, an accordion and a range of recorders.

Additionally, next term Year 5 pupils will receive ten music lessons courtesy of Tavistock Area Learning Community's Wider Opportunities Scheme.
