THERE's an opportunity to hear international musicians Amadou Diagne and Griselda Sanderson at Milton Combe Village Hall on Thursday, February 28.
Amadou sings and plays guitar soulfully, with an honest intensity and bluesy edge, reflecting on the joys and hardships of life.
He sings in English, French and Wolof, the language of his homeland Senegal in West Africa, where he was born into a large Griot family of Sabar drummers.
His voice has a deep, breathy tone, then soars into a plaintive falsetto.
He has played percussion for some of the world's greatest musicians including Youssou N'Dour, Cesaria Evora and Jimmy Cliff.
Griselda Sanderson is a fiddle and nyckelharpa (Swedish keyed fiddle) player originally from Clackmannanshire in Scotland.
She is a musician and academic with experience in the fields of traditional Scottish and Irish music as well as contemporary sound art, composition and installation work, and her album Harpaphonics was listed in the top 10 best world music albums of 2009 by The Sunday Times.
Tickets are £12 and include a light supper in the interval.
Please bring your own drinks as the hall does not have a licence.
