IMAGINATIONS were captured when Okehampton's Museum of Dartmoor Life held its open day on Saturday.

Around 150 people attended the event, which featured workshops in badge making, archaeological excavation and origami, as well as special exhibits, and the launch of the new BBC history project 'Turn Back Time.'

The museum was also celebrating 'The Big Draw', a national event aiming to explore how drawing can connect communities. The theme for Okehampton's big draw day was 'fantasy', with people being asked to draw what they thought Okehampton would look like in 500 - 1,000 years' time.

Museum curator Maurie Webber said: 'One girl thought Okehampton would one day be twinned with Mars, which I thought was wonderful!'

There was also a treasure hunt for children, which will run until all the squares have been chosen. Maurie would not be drawn on the prize, simply saying it was a 'bag of treasure'.

The museum hopes to hold a special event for the 'Edwardian Day' of the BBC's 'Back in Time' project on November 9.
