Plymouth & West Devon Sunday Football League Over 35s
The Lopes Arms 0
Horrabridge X Rgrs 6
HORRABRIDGE kicked off playing with the wind and Marty Veitch scored the first goal within two minutes.
The strong wind and Horrabridge's dynamic forwards caused a lot of problems. Dave Norman scored the second with a brave header at the far post, which cost him a broken nose. The third goal was a glancing header at the near post by Dutchy Mulholland who has played for Horrabridge for 12 seasons and never scored for them before.
The Bridgers midfielders worked well and pushed a ball through to Veitch to score his second with a shot driven into the roof of the net.
Lopes Arms were always trying to work the ball forward, but were thwarted at the last by the Bridgers defence. Further attacks for Horrabridge followed which resulted in a goal by Mulholland who lobbed the keeper from 30 yards.
As the teams changed around the wind dropped and the rain ceased making it harder for The Lopes. They put Horrabridge under pressure, but Dave Russell kept the score down with many reflex saves.
Horrabridge scored their final goal with some good interplay between the forwards and midfield. It was rounded of with a screaming shot from 20 yards into the top corner of the Lopes goal by Mulholland to complete his hat-trick.
