BERE Ferrers Watersports Day kicks off to a messy start on Saturday, June 28 with a series of games in the mud.

Team competitors will have a chance to wash off the mud as the afternoon progresses and the tide comes in, with the later games taking place in the river. The finale will be the greasy pole competition, the vanquished suffering a dunking in the River Tavy.

The first game will be at 3pm, and Bere Ferrers Quay will also be filled with various stalls, a bar and barbecue, a bouncy castle and crab catching competitors. Light refreshments will be provided by the WI, who will also be running a prize draw.

From 7pm music for dancing or listening to will be provided, with Louis? Disco, Squandered Youth and Speakeasy. The afternoon barbecue will be succeeded by a pig roast for the evening.

The event will finish with a firework display.
