Comedian Jethro has died after contracting Covid-19, according to his manager.

John Miles said the Cornish-born funny man, famous for his down to earth brand of humour, passed away at Derriford Hospital at 11pm yesterday (Tuesday).

Mr Miles, who also managed Des O’Connor, said the 72-year-old comedian, who lived at Lewdown, contracted Coronavirus about ten days ago, but never recovered.

He said Jethro, real name Geoffrey Rowe, had been vaccinated against the virus, but added: ’He didn’t make it and it was all so quick. We are all shattered.’

Jethro’s family released a statement shortly after his death, which said:

’Jethro leaves behind his life partner Jennie, sons Jesse and Lanyon, step daughter Sarah, daughter-in-law Stacey and of course his much loved grandchildren.

We ask that you respect our privacy at this very sad time and give us all time to grieve.

We will continue to support each other in the knowledge that our lives will never be the same without him.’
