A SUPERB bowling and fielding display by Lewdown U11s salvaged an important win after a most disappointing batting performance.
Looe won the toss and asked Lewdown to bat. Pat Ewen (12 not out) and Jon Marais (-1) got off to a good start but the rest of the batting faltered badly with the exception of Harry Williams (9) and Callum Worth (6). Lewdown reached a below par total of 241.
Opening bowlers Harry Williams (3-0-10-2) and James Weeks (3-1-7-2) set the trend for what was to become the best bowling and fielding performance of the season.
Nick Smith (3-2-3-3), Callum Worth (3-0-19-1), Jon Marais (2-0-6-1), Adam Creasey (3-0-13-1) and Brandon Horn (3-1-11-0) backed up by superb fielding all contributed to a satisfactory 28 run victory as Looe were restricted to 213.
Pat Ewen capped off an excellent personal contribution behind the stumps with three stumpings and a catch and is proving to be one of the most important members of the team.
Lewdown team manager (Carl Weeks) and Team Coach (Brenden Worth) took a lot of positives from the game but also realise that the running between the wickets needs addressing.
• Next match for Lewdown U11s is Menheniot away.
