VOLUNTEERS at Brentor-based children's charity CHICKS (Country Holidays for Inner City Kids) showed West Devon and Torridge MP Geoffrey Cox around its much-loved premises last week. During the parliamentary recess Mr Cox paid a visit to the charity, which provides holidays for children from towns and cities who would otherwise never experience holidays in the countryside. Mr Cox was escorted around the facilities by the charity's chief executive Roy Endacott and operations manager Rod Webb-Taylor, and was able to discuss the work of the charity with them and with the children's supervisors who look after the visitors and organise their stay. He said: 'CHICKS attracts volunteers and children from all around the country and is a very special place. 'I was delighted to meet the dedicated and enthusiastic people who work around the clock to give the children an unforgettable holiday in West Devon, many of whom will have very few childhood memories as happy as those they acquire with CHICKS.'
