THE parish priest of Gulworthy, the Rev Michael Brierley, has expressed his warmest thanks to parishioners for their huge support at the parish church's gift day last week. 

Mr Brierley sat outside the church all day on St Paul's Day, and received £1,400 from parishioners who appreciated the presence of  St Paul's Church and wished to support it. Gift-aid will take this total to more than £1,700. 

He said: 'It was very moving to witness people's sacrificial generosity, especially those who may not pitch up to church every week, but who really value what the church stands for and what it does in the community. To all those who gave, I and the churchwardens are really, really grateful.'
