TAVISTOCK's Mount Kelly College production team staged a terrific production of 'Daisy Pulls It Off!' at the end of term.

Written by Denise Deegan, the play is a parody of life in a 1920s girls' English boarding school.  The production won an Olivier Award and the Drama Theatre Award for best comedy in the late 80s and enjoyed revivals in 2002, 2008 and 2010 (the latter with Andrew Lloyd Webber as director/producer).

The Mount Kelly adaptation opened with a high impact scene in which Daisy (Olivia Banks) arrived at Grangewood School on a full scholarship. Hoping to have a care-free time with her well-heeled classmates, filled with the glories of private school life,  the audience soon realised things were unlikely to go to plan for the heroine.

With teachers and pupils alike wanting to get rid of the interloper, Daisy is in for a hard time, especially from classmate Sybil (Selwin Hulme-Teague) who devoted her every waking hour to devising schemes to rid the school of Daisy.

The plot thickened, generating loads of laughs along the way but happily justice prevailed for Daisy.

There were outstanding performances from leading actors and the play included a large cast of accomplished supporting actors.  One of the evening's highlights was the girls' hockey match where Henry Searle, David Lloyd-Greame, Ben Hancox and Connor Skidmore  provide the hilarious female opposition.

Director Mr Balfour said he was 'immensely proud of the company'.
