A GOLDEN day greeted exhibitors and visitors when Bere Ferrers held their Mothering Sunday-themed spring flower show on Saturday March 29.

Chairman Margaret Willmott was delighted to announce that in this 55th year entries were 242 up on last year, with another 20 exhibitors.

She thanked Henry and Jean Hooper for their magnificent display of vibrant daffodil blooms, and her hardworking committee.

Cllr Christine Grills presented trophies and thanked the children for their efforts. She also thanked the chairman and her committee for their efforts throughout the year.

Alan Langsford, who was unable to attend as a judge this year, was wished a speedy recovery. Thanks were expressed to the judges who were Peter Argles (daffodils); P Palmer (other flowers and vegetables); Mrs I Merritt (decorative and children?s), Mrs M Lethrbidge (domestic), G Brown (wine). Mrs Margaret Willmott gave a bouquet to Cllr Grills who presented trophies.
