MOTHER and daughter, Peta and Bethany Rowley from Tavistock, are celebrating after Bethany collected her A-level results. She gained A grades in art, English, and government and politics.

Bethany, 18, was taught English A-level by her mother, Peta, at Plymouth College of Further Education.

Bethany said: ?I?m so pleased I got the grades I hoped for. It was great having mum as one of my lecturers.

?The only time it became a problem was when she tried to demonstrate her point by drawing badly on the board - which was quite embarrassing! She tended to mark my work quite harshly and the highest grade she would ever give me was a B+!?

Bethany had to work extra hard when studying for her A-levels as she missed lectures for two months after catching glandular fever. She had to catch up with her studies before sitting her exams in June.

Peta said: ?I am very pleased for Bethany. She had two great years at the college and I don?t think I have cramped her style at all.

?We both wondered how it would be if I taught her, but once in class there was too much else to think about so we just got on with it and the other students were very accepting of the situation.

?Bethany is just one of a terrific cohort of students. I am proud of them all and they all deserve to have done well.?

College English lecturer Peta joined her daughter and fellow students, to collect her results at a breakfast event held by Plymouth College of Further Education. Full-time students aged 16 to 18 at the college achieved a pass rate very close to the national pass rate of 96%.
