Devon & Exeter League Premier Div
Okehampton Argyle . . . . . . . . . . . . . 4
Pinhoe . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .4
THE opening half hour was evenly contested, with Paul Yip providing a couple of dangerous crosses for Argyle, but these were scrambled away by Pinhoe's defence.
The deadlock was broken on the half hour, when a good through ball from Pinhoe saw Danny Hall just beat Sean Sandercock in a race for the ball, and shoot into the corner of the net.
Adam Mortimer levelled for Argyle five minutes before the break, giving the keeper no chance with a well placed shot just inside the post.
Pinhoe regained the lead three minutes later, when a free kick for a late tackle near the touchline produced a perfect cross for the centre forward to head a goal in off the underside of the crossbar.
Argyle levelled the score for the second time 15 minutes into the second half. This time Robbie Sandercock jinked his way past two defenders before his goalline cross was turned into his own net by a defender trying to clear.
A poor spell from Argyle midway through the second half saw Pinhoe slit the defence twice in almost as many minutes, putting them 4-2 up, and everyone thought the game as good as won.
But Mortimer thought differently. First with ten minutes left he worked his way into the penalty area and shot powerfully into the net to reduce the arrears. Then with two minutes to go he repeated the dose to put Argyle level.
A leg injury to Daniel Johnson caused a long delay which carried the game well past the normal finishing time, and it eventually finished in almost total darkness.
This point keeps Argyle in touch with at least four teams above them in the league, but a victory is badly needed to get them out of the relegation zone.
This week Argyle are away to Feniton, kick off 2.30pm. Meet at all weather car park, 12.40pm
