Paignton U11s 5
Tavistock U11s 22
TWENTY-four players, two linesmen, a referee and no ball . . . not a good start but once it was in place this match did not stop for a second.
Tavistock opened the scoring with scrum half Philip Snell getting quick ball off a five-metre scrum to release Jack Morgan to dive over.
Paignton came back and levelled the score. They would have gone ahead had tackles from Josh Leeson and good all round defensive work not been so effective.
The second half saw Tavistock move up a gear. Some inspired running from Barnaby Frost started a move which was skilfully finished by second row Elliott Northmore. A lightning dash down the blind side of a scrum by Philip Snell added another five points.
Not long before Paignton's defence cracked once more and prop Joe Hair fed full back Jack Haigh from a try-line maul to score the fourth.
Tavistock's scoring was wrapped up with a conversion by Jack Morgan.

TAVISTOCK put in a good team performance and their try count would have been more but for some valiant Paignton defending.
From the start Tavistock showed their intent as captain Annabel Longden passed to Darcy Bourton who found a gap in the Paignton defence and popped the ball up to Aaron Dobie to race in to score. From the restart, Tavistock's defence was up quickly, forcing Paignton to make a handling error. Max Phillips, Max Roper and Luke Samson-Hill won loose ball and set up further attacks as well as disrupting the Paignton forays.
The third try was scored as Dominique Brindle evaded three tacklers and passed onto Jordan Stacey who made another ten yards. Dobie was in support to run in his third of four tries.
In the second half Charlie Wood and Max Roper piled on the pressure and both runs were only stopped at the try-line.
With seemingly no way through the defence the ball was worked back to Robert Bone who side-stepped and jinked his way in for a trademark try.
Player of the match: Aaron Dobie.
There will be no training or games over the Easter weekend and the festival at Ivybridge is on April 18.

Paignton fought back against some valiant tackling from Tavistock to score an equaliser in the corner.
With the score two tries apiece with only a few minutes to go, the fresh legs and game awareness of Marcus Hoddinot, man of the match, were used to maximum effect, feeding off the early run by Charlie Carter to score a long-range try and put Tavistock back into the lead.
Tavistock drove Paignton away from the line to hold the lead and came out deserving winners.
