WE HAVE been very successful in already selling over 500 balloons for the balloon race to raise funds for the new Okehampton Hospital.

The race was planned to take place at the new hospital on February 14 but, given the ongoing building work, constrained site and, of course, the likely weather, we think it best to delay the race.

We will definitely stage the event before the school summer holidays start and ideally will hold it in May. I do want to apologise to local people who have already bought balloons for the delay but I think everyone will understand why we have put the date back.

We are looking forward to the new hospital opening and the new ?launch? date for the balloon race does mean there is more time for people who have not yet done so, to buy a balloon.
