KEEN walkers can take part in a ten-mile circular walk in support of Children's Hospice South West (CHSW) and Dartmoor Rescue next month.

The walk starts from Postbridge car park at 9am and takes in Braddon Lake, Broad Down, Hollowcombe Bottom, Lower White Tor, Higher White Tor, Longaford Tor, Powdermills Chimney, Lakehead Hill, Bellever Tor, Laughter Tor, Bellever and back to Postbridge. Walkers will be given grid references for six checkpoints and each team must plan their own route using the information given.

Ken Ringwood from Dartmoor Rescue Group said: 'The Members of Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team Plymouth are very experienced in managing walks on Dartmoor and are pleased that Children's Hospice South West are joining them on the 'Postbridge Challenge'. We are looking forward to the day and hope everyone raises some funds for the hospice.'

Everyone must wear suitable clothes for the open moor in February and should have a detailed map (Ordnance Survey Outdoor Leisure Number 28, Map of Dartmoor North & South, 1:25,000) plus a compass, torch, food, drink and a loud whistle! At least one of the team must have basic navigation, compass and map reading skills.

All teams are encouraged to raise a generous donation for Children's Hospice South West to help children with life-limiting illness.
