HORSE and pony owners are being invited to saddle up and join a specially organised riding event on Dartmoor in aid of the BBC Radio Devon Air Ambulance appeal this weekend.
The event, organised by Dartmoor farmers with support from the Dartmoor Hill Farm Project, consists of a short two-hour ride and a longer three-hour ride on Sunday, September 25. Unescorted riders may also ride out and follow either of the specially waymarked routes. Maps and information will be provided and refreshments will also be available to each rider.
This is a unique opportunity to ride out onto Dartmoor with people who farm on Dartmoor and ride regularly, gaining an insight into how farming maintains this wonderful place and learning about some of the fascinating history of the area from local riders.
The rides start from Tor Royal Farm, near Princetown, with escorted rides starting at 11am and 2pm. Unescorted riders may start at any time between 10.30am and 2pm.
Each rider is asked to pay £15 with all profits being donated to the BBC Radio Devon Air Ambulance appeal. Riders must have third party liability insurance and hard hats must be worn. Sorry no dogs are allowed on the rides.
