FIRE crews rushed to reports of a huge grass fire at Sittaford Tor, Chagford just after noon on Sunday.
A police helicopter was called to assist crews from Chagford, Bovey Tracey, Princetown and Tavistock, who were finding access to the 1,500 metres by 200 metres fire difficult.
The helicopter carried incident commander Goddard who was able to survey the area of the fire.
Nearly five hours later, approximately 15 hectares of moorland had been affected by the fire, but steady progress was made by five fogging units and beaters.
The crews finally managed to extinguish the fire nearly six hours after it started.
