LOCAL poetry group Moor Poets have just been awarded grants of £3,100 from the Arts Council and £900 from the Dartmoor National Park Authority to run many exciting new projects for 2005. The group, whose first anthology ?Moor Poets Volume I? (published in 2003 by Wylde Publications) has successfully sold out, is now set to launch a call for contributions for a second book. All local poets and would-be-poets are invited to book up for various writing and poetry-editing workshops that will take place throughout the summer. They will be led by successful and well-known poets such as Alice Oswald, whose poem ?Dart? won the T S Eliot Prize in 2002, and local stand-up and Radio 4 favourite, Matt Harvey. Caroline Wilson will be conducting poetry-writing workshops for men in Dartmoor Prison, some of whose work appeared in Volume I and in the exhibitions mounted by Moor Poets last winter. Other events include poetry readings at several South West festivals and a poetry reading/writing walk on Dartmoor with Moor Poets Chair Ru Roberts.
