THE Margaret Green Animal Rescue is looking for a home for a very special black cat this Hallowe'en and is appealing to animal-lovers to consider a 'lucky' addition to the family.

Niki Ging, who manages the Wingletang Rescue and Rehoming Centre site, near Tavistock, with her husband, Alan, says: 'We are looking for a loving home for Maisie, a lovely girl who came to us as a stray. She's around two years old and although she is shy at first she is making good progress with staff. She is looking for a rural home where her new family will help her gain confidence and give her all the love she deserves.'

Traditionally linked to witches, black cats are believed to bring good luck – yet the charity finds them the hardest felines to re-home.

Margaret Green Animal Rescue is hoping prospective owners will choose the spookiest time of the year to adopt Maisie — their very own lucky charm.

The charity also has several kittens as well as young and older cats looking for homes.

Niki says:  'We don't know why black cats are less popular than tabbies and gingers but Maisie is certainly a lovely cat – why not give her a purr-fect ending and hopefully bring yourself some luck too!'
