WEST DEVON's Heather Fell, representing Great Britain, produced a strong finish to finish seventh at the Modern Pentathlon World Cup Final in London on Sunday.
Team-mate Mhairi Spence just missed out on the medals coming fifth while Freyja Prentice was 12th at the Olympic test event.
It rounded off a terrific event for Britain's pentathletes following Nick Woodbridge's bronze medal on Saturday – the first time a British man had won a World Cup Final medal.
Spence and Fell went into the run/shoot at Greenwich Park in third and fourth places, with Prentice down in 24th.
Heather Fell dropped down the field to 12th after a disappointing second shoot, but showed guts and determination to claw her way up to seventh – a position that equals her world ranking. She ran hard to the finish, overtaking Russians Yuliya Kolegova and Ekaterina Khuraskina in the final few paces.
She said: 'The crowd made a huge effort today, especially at the end. They definitely helped me pick up those last few positions.'
Heather added that the competition for GB places for London 2012 will continue to be intense.
'If I was a bookie I wouldn't know who to put my money on for London next year. The two who go to the Games have got an amazingly good chance of getting on to the podium and of getting to the top of it.
'Hopefully I can sort things out over the next two and half weeks in time for the Europeans.'
She only had five wins from her first 13 contests, but then worked her way up the field to end on 18 victories for joint eighth.
The World Cup final was supported by UK Sport and Pentathlon GB.
