MID Devon Pony Club tetrathletes took part in the annual Inter Area competition held at Stockland Lovell during half term and came away with mixed results. It was a huge event with 275 competitors from all over Southern England taking part; clubs coming from as far away as Sussex in the East up to Aberystwyth in the West. Star of the show for the Mid Devon was Will Leech who came second in a hugely competitive Junior Boys class. He started off with his best ever shoot and followed this with a good swim. On the second day he rode brilliantly to record one of only two clear rounds in his class and actually went into the running phase in the lead. There, sadly Will came up against a boy from the Cowdray PC who could run like the wind, and he was edged into second place by just fifty points. The Junior girls, Charlie Rowe, Lucy Almond and Lottie Trerise came fifth in a class that had over eighty entrants, with local rivals North Cornwall winning, and the Tetcott and S Tetcott club coming third. The individual competition was won by the Tetcott?s Georgie Barrington, with Charlie coming fourth, riding a perfect clear round over the testing Stockland Lovell course. Charlotte?s swim heat was one of the most competitive ever seen at this level with the winning girl swimming almost 10 1/2 lengths in 3 mins. Lucy and Lottie both rode great rounds, incurring just a few penalties on the way round. Eve Colton was Mid Devon?s only representative in the Mini Girls? class. She produced a great run and apart from a problem shutting the gate, jumped a lovely clear round.
