North Tawton Mixed 26

South Molton Seconds 13

BOTH teams seemed to take a long time to warm up. North Tawton started strongly but after ten minutes lost their momentum.

There followed some indifferent play by both sides with nobody taking control. South Molton opened the scoring with a deserved penalty and the visitors took the better of the first half with another penalty to leave the score at half-time 6-0 to South Molton.

At the break North Tawton made some significant changes, bringing in Richard Huxtable from the centre to join Phil Arnold in the back row. Danny North joined them from the bench and the extra experience and weight began to tell.

Stuart Peters collected a loose ball and sent winger Ross Lawrence scurrying over in the corner to put the score at 6-5.

North Tawton were taking control. Captain Dai Roberts put a high kick ahead for North to collect and cross over for a try, converted by Joe Fewings. Within 10 minutes it was again North, picking up from the base of a five metre scrum, who scored a try, converted by Joe Fewings.

South Molton managed to come back and put the North Tawton line under pressure with a number of five-metre scrums and were eventually awarded with a try.

But it was to be North Tawton's day. A good lineout ball by Neil Peters set the backs away. Centre Phil Wale made a tremendous break to put winger Ross Lawrence in for another try, converted by Joe Fewings.

l North Tawton are home to DHSOB in the league and the seconds are away to DHSOB, both kick-off 2.30pm.
