THE Okehampton Table Tennis League 2009/2010 season and this year there are nine teams in division one and eight in division two.

The new teams in division one are The Young Ones and Academy A. Academy A were away to Bridestowe who raced into a 6-0 lead but Daniel Howell saved the whitewash beating Francis Griffiths in straight sets; there were maximums for Mark Tancock and Phil Down in the 9-1 win for Bridestowe.

The J team were at home to Dartmoor Fringe. Naomi and Nick Jackson both scored maximums but both Andy Moppett beat Frank Cockburn in straight sets but Frank fought hard against Peter Richardson, who he lost to in five sets 11-7, 10-12, 5-11, 14-16, 5-11. Naomi and Nick beat Peter and Keith Smith in the doubles for an 8-2 win for The J Team.

TheYoung Ones took on North Wyke who went into an early lead. Tom Misselbrook beating Sarah Jackson in four legs; George Haskell won the next against Steve Granger and brother Edward did well to beat Paula Dument before George did well to beat Tom for a 3-1 lead.

Sarah, Edward and George won the next three to lead 6-1, Tom made it 6-2 beating Edward. Sarah won her second game with a hard fought 11-8, 3-11, 8-11, 11-6, 11-8 for a 7-2 lead. Tom and Steve beat Sarah and George in the doubles for a 7-3 win for The Young Ones.

In division Two Milton Abbot were at home against the new team of Moretonhampstead B. The father and son Theo and Mark Cousins and Ian Osbourne played the team of Ollie Piggott, Jude Beavis and Audrey Coombs. Playing their first league match they found Milton Abbot a bit too strong and lost the first nine singles - Ollie took Mark to five legs losing out 11-9, 4-11, 4-11, 13-11, 11-7. Ollie and Jude saved the whitewash beating Theo and Mark 11-13, 4-11, 11-9, 7-11 for a 9-1 win for Milton Abbot.

Okehampton B were at home against Anchorage C. Cath Smith, Dick Randell and Ann Creamer for Okehampton B and Michael O'Neill, Barry Williams and Dave Daspher for Anchorage.

Michael playing his first league match scored a fine maximum to help Anchorage to a 6-4 win. Cath Smith took him to five legs in the first loosing out 6-11 in the fifth leg. Both Cath and Dick Randell won two singles each for Okehampton, Anchorage winning the doubles for a 6-4 win.

Also in division two Moretonhampstead A were at home to Anchorage B, Ken and Richard Underhill and David Shilston for Moreton and Roger and Jenny Gilbert and Dave Wilson for Anchorage. Ken beat Roger in the first, Dave beat Richard to level 1-1, David put Moreton ahead in the next beating Jenny 5-11, 8-11, 11-6, 11-5, 11-8. Roger levelled by 2-2 beating Richard, while Ken and David won the next two to lead 4-2. Jenny and Roger pulled two back for Anchorage before Ken played Dave in the last singles. Ken took the first two legs 11-4, 11-9, Dave won the next two 2-11, 7-11, Ken winning the fifth 11-7. Ken joined David in the doubles beating Roger and Dave 11-5, 11-9, 4-11, 9-11, 11-7 for a hard fought win for Moretonhampstead.
