Colin Kirby Cup

BRIDESTOWE were victorious in the final of the Colin Kirby Cup against Calstock.

Bridestowe won the toss and asked Calstock to bat first at Whitchurch. They were in early trouble as Alex Jopling and Tom Fogerty reduced them to 25-5.

The Calstock middle-order staged a slight comeback, but man of the match Dave Jopling took 4-11 to restrict them to just 72, probably at least 30 short of a competitive score.

Bridestowe set out to chase the total in sensible fashion, going at a steady four an over. Some tight bowling from Calstock as well as loose shots and good catching in the deep left the win in some doubt, as both openers departed in quick succession.

The match was effectively ended as a contest as Jack Hatton struck a six followed by another boundary to leave BCC needing less than 20 to win.

Bridestowe got home with five overs to spare, seven wickets down.

Bridestowe (pictured batting above and left) were soundly beaten by Countess Wear on Saturday in Devon D after the home side scored 113, with Hatton top scoring on 24. Wear's Singh did the damage with 6-33.

59 not out from opener Darke and 40 from Diaz saw the Exeter side romp him to 116-1 to win by nine wickets. Countess Wear 20 points, Bridestowe 1pt.
