Despite the foul weather over the weekend, North Okes hosted a mini tournament at the North Tawton Rugby Club between North Okes, Barnstaple, Salcombe and Bude. In the first match North Okes played Barnstaple and won 10-0. The team played well both in attack and defence with tries from Richie Hann and Daniel Fogerty. The second match saw North Okes up against a larger Salcombe side. With excellent tackling and fluid passing, despsite the west and gusty weather, North Okes came out the victors with 25-0. Tries from Daniel Fogerty and Edward Brain. The third match saw cold, wet and tired players take to the pitch. Despite injuries they played with heart. North Okes played well as a team but conceded two tries and lost to Bude 0-10. North Okes U10s 10 Crediton U10s 10 AS the score suggests a closely contested match. On a narrow pitch the Crediton side played a forward game and North Okes committed fully to a game full of tackling. Due to the style of the game it was hard to move the ball out wide. North Okes kept their cool and did not give in, putting in some crunching tackles against a larger pack. Liam Phipps played well in his first game for North Okes. Okehampton U9s 15 Barnstaple U9s 0 WITH the team growing in confidence each week, and each member of the squad contributing well, this was another excellent victory over a strong Barnstaple team. The first try for Okehampton was a result of good passing along the back line for Brandon Horn to score in the corner. This was quickly followed by another try for Brandon following a good solo run. In the second half Reece Peacock scored a good try after breaking through several tackles. Okehampton U9s 10 Bude U9s 0 OKEHAMPTON quickly got into their stride to score a try through Brandon Horn. In the second half, after some strong running by Patrick Ewen and Jacob Horn, scrum half Tom Strawbridge dived over to score in the corner to round off a good day's rugby.
