A LIFELONG fear of heights has been overcome by a 22-year-old student from Tavistock, who parachuted 10,000 feet from a plane to raise money for the Royal National Institute for the Blind. Milly Hyde, of Woodtown, who raised £440 in the jump at Dunkeswell Airfield near Honiton, said afterwards: ?I was absolutely petrified, but despite my fear of heights, it has always been my ambition to do a parachute jump. ?This was my first attempt and it entailed a free fall of 5,000 feet before I parachuted the rest of the way to the ground?. Milly has recently completed a course in business studies in Plymouth and will shortly go on to Plymouth University to take a degree in business administration. For the last three years she has worked part time in the Coffee Shop and Bar of the Wharf, Tavistock. ?Much of the money raised for the RNIB was donated by customers and staff of the Wharf, who sponsored me for the jump? Milly said. Will she undertake any more parachuting for good causes? ?No more jumps but I will continue to raise money for charity? Milly says. ?Next time, I hope to try something just as frightening to me as parachuting from a plane ? white water rafting in Wales!?
