U18 Cambridge League Tavistock Thistles FC 0 Millbrook FC 7 THISTLES set up their stall from the kick off and defended deep, allowing their opponants most of the possession but confining them to mainly long range efforts which did not really trouble the keeper too much. After a settling in period Thistles ? with three key players missing ?started to push on and had several half chances, the best of which fell to Karl Cudmore who just failed to get a touch at the near post from a James Worrell corner With around ten minutes of the first half left, Millbrook got in around the back of the defence. A cross to the far post found the head of an attacker and the ball found its way into the net. A second goal followed within a short space of time to leave Thistles trailing at the break by two goals. After the break Thistles continued to hold their own until they were forced into making a substitution with Marc Harris having to go off with a damaged knee. Although no blame can be laid at the door of the replacement it unsettled the side and within minutes the rot started to set in. It had taken Millbrook 25 minutes to get the third but once they did some of the defensive duties went out of the gate and down to the road to the tip. All the hard work in midfield by Worrell, Lee, Cudmore, Kirby and man of the match Mike Brown was let down by lacklustre defending and the Thistles keeper could not hold back the tide. Thistles do not play again now until Tuesday November 27 in a 7.30pm kick off at Langsford Park against Elburton Villa.
