UNREST in Palestine is the theme of a film showing at the United Reformed Church in Tavistock later this month.
At 7.30pm on September 28 the church is showing the film 'The Iron Wall' by Mohammed Alatar.
Admission is free and all are welcome.
The Rev Roger Cornish said: 'As peace talks begin again it is important that people know what it is like to live in Palestine and the background to the current unrest.
'In 1948 Israel forcibly expelled over 700,000 Palestinians from their homes and, since the 1967 war, has controlled what is left of Palestine.
'For decades the living area for Palestinians has shrunk, while the Palestinian population continues to grow.'
Today, there are about 9 million Palestinians worldwide; of these, 70% remain refugees.
Mr Cornish said: 'The impact of the Israeli colonies, and the annexation wall that Israel is now building is devastating to the Palestinian people — especially farmers.
'heir land is confiscated, their homes destroyed, their abundant olive trees uprooted and their dream of peace shattered.'
Through the film 'The Iron Wall' the Palestinians are appealing to the world for justice and peace.
After the film there will be opportunity for people to discuss what they have been shown and to ask questions.
