A FORMER Tavistock College Student is busy working on a key project at the BBC for the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Michael Gentle attended Tavistock College from 2002 to 2009. As a teenager he played football for Tavistock Town and qualified as an FA coach. He graduated with a first class degree from the University of Southampton in Business Management with Entrepreneurship in 2012 and represented the UK in a university social enterprise competition out in Malaysia. Following graduation, he gained further professional qualifications while working at Virgin Media in Reading. The 23-year-old is now part of the BBC Commonwealth Games project team, based in Glasgow, and is excited by what this summer holds. He said: 'I'm enjoying my time up in Glasgow and with the BBC. 'The whole city is gearing up for it and there's so much anticipation for it to get started. 'It's a great project to be involved in and I hope this experience will take me forward in the future. 'It's been a really interesting collaboration across the BBC, which hasn't always been easy, but we're all looking forward to the end result. 'As well as the great sports coverage of every event across the eleven days, there's a massive amount going on. 'A lot of the programming focuses on Scotland but with the Queen's Baton Relay having already dropped in to Plymouth in June, it's been important to bring the games to the whole UK. 'Look out for concerts, comedy, documentaries and a variety of regular BBC shows with a Commonwealth focus — on TV, radio and online — throughout July. 'With it all kicking off on July 23, I hope everyone gets inspired again in 2014.'
