WEST Devon?s newly merged Citizens? Advice Bureau is to receive a special grant of £3,000 a year from the borough council to help it develop a programme of improved services to the public.

The Tavistock and Okehampton Citizens? Advice Bureaux merged late last year to consolidate the skills and experience held in each site.

The new West Devon CAB asked the council for further funding to help with the implementation of the new development programme.

Councillors agreed to the £9,000 grant to be spread over three years in addition to £23,150 that the council gives to the bureau every year.

Chairman of the West Devon CAB Anita Prosser said:?We appreciate the support of West Devon Borough Council.

?CAB is a vital service in the community.?

She added that they would now be appointing a district manager for both offices and an assistant session supervisor for the Okehampton office. Both jobs are paid.

The manager?s job does not have to be CAB trained although the assistant supervisor does have to have relevant CAB qualifications.

She added: ?We would be delighted to hear from anyone who may feel that they have skills and knowledge to bring to these particular roles.?
