IT was men versus women in a cricket match held to mark Lydford Sports Field's 60th anniversary on Sunday.

On April 25 1953 the sports field was officially opened with a similar event. This year's match saw the men just ease past the ladies' total with an over to spare. The match was followed by tea, again to match tradition. It is hoped the event will become an annual fixture.
