IN 1977, as a teacher in Tavistock, I drove coaches owned by Mr Striplin to boost my income. One glorious morning I drove to collect school kids and youngsters from Princetown to take them to school at Tavistock.
As I approached the old Merrivale Pump House I was flagged to a stop, off the main road in front of the building — a photograph of which was shown on page 36 (Times, November 4) with a 1930s car there.
They were actually filming 'Mud' and joked that I might be shown in it. The film stars and photographers were actually staying at a small hotel on the left hand side of the main road about half a mile out of Horrabridge towards Yelverton.
Filming also took place at the far end of Burrator Reservoir but sadly the name 'Mud' was changed to a new title before cinema showing, which I cannot remember. Can anyone?
