Tavistock Ladies 1st XI 4

Plymouth University 1st XI 0

AT the start Tavistock were in disarray and were hemmed back in the 25-yard area. Once Tavistock managed to settle, the game changed around and it was not long before they got on the scoresheet.

Laura Armstrong took the ball from the halfway line down the left wing to the back line through two defenders and slotted it past the keeper into the net.

Tavistock kept up the momentum and soon put away a lovely goal. Mel Vaggers scored from the top of the D.

The visitors were awarded a number of penalty corners in succession but were unable to convert any.

Just before half-time another goal was awarded. The University goalkeeper went down on top of the ball and it was adjudged that it would have gone in, so a penalty goal was given with Judy Smallacombe taking the credit.

Uni came out strongly in the second half but good passing play by Tavistock kept the ball out. Tavistock's final goal was scored by Susannah Harland. She received the ball outside the D, took it in on the right side and struck a lovely shot into the far corner of the goal.

Uni kept attacking and Tavistock had to do some strong defending but they could not break through. Tavistock thoroughly deserved the three points and will be looking forward to this week's league fixture against Launceston.
