A MEETING to discuss the development of the minor injuries service in Tavistock is being held on Monday (August 1).

Following a contract change, the provision of the minor injuries unit in Tavistock was transferred on a short term basis to Livewell South West until March 31, 2017.

NHS Northern, Eastern and Western Devon Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has said it has undertaken a lot of engagement with stake holders as part of its review of community services over the last three years and now the CCG is seeking to undertake further engagement regarding the provision of minor injuries services.

During the TCS (Transforming Community Services) process, the Western Locality (Plymouth, South Hams area) produced the commissioning intentions for health services — Your Health, Your Future, Your Say.

This document sets out the CCG’s direction for the provision of urgent care services within the Western Locality.

In particular, the document states: ’For the avoidance of doubt, we are clear that there will be little change in the provision from community hospitals . . . The only change we envisage will be around the way that minor injury services are provided but, again, for the avoidance of doubt, minor injury services will still be provided in Kingsbridge, Tavistock and Plymouth.’

The CCG has said that this remained its intention, however, the current procurement process represented an opportunity to further engage with key stake holders as to the delivery model for services within Tavistock and Kingsbridge. A meeting will be held on August 1 at 2.30pm at the Tavyside Health Centre in Tavistock to discuss the development of services in the town.

Representatives of primary care (GPs), Livewell Southwest, HealthWatch, League of Friends, local media, town council and members of the public are among those invited to attend.

The session will be designed to provide a briefing based on the CCG’s commissioning intentions and latest performance information. The session will then provide an opportunity for stake holders to discuss different models of care provision.
