TAVISTOCK College has introduced extra evening sports sessions after students said they wanted to try new activities.
The PE department is running after school lacrosse, ultimate frisbee, volleyball and open swimming clubs following requests in a student survey. The athletics club is training on the brand new track for the first season, prompting more students to join up.
Tristan Forster, head of PE, said: 'A survey asked students what they wanted to do and we managed to secure funding from the Youth Sports Trust to introduce some of these activities. We have doubled capacity in the last 12 months and are now offering more than 30 physical activities in lessons and after school.
A large number of open community sports sessions also operate at the college, ranging from martial arts and fencing to yoga and pilates. For more information, call the Tavistock Community Sports Centre on 01822 813238.
