Carlsberg South Western League Wadebridge 3 Tavistock 3 THE Lambs were without the suspended Ryan Honey and the missing Glynn Hobbs. Back came Chris Short into the starting line up with Lee Bevan making his debut transferred from Newquay. It meant a shuffle of the pack with central defender moving into attack alongside Mark Conday. The home side belied their lowly position and any thoughts of an easy win for the Lambs were soon diminished as the 'Bridgers' went into an early lead. There was just minutes on the clock as James Cudmore swung in a high cross that saw Josh Insley rise to loop a header over the advancing Andy Meeds. Chris Woolstencroft then hit an upright before he raced into the area to go down but an appeal for a penalty was turned down to let the Lambs off the hook. The home side were slicing through the Lambs defence and Meeds denied the ever dangerous Woolstencroft. The Lambs drew level after 25 minutes. Short and James Kiely combined up the right wing for Short to send in a cross that was only partially cleared for Conday to drive home from the edge of the area. Woolstencroft then had a chance to put the home side back in front when his effort hit the angle of upright and crossbar but the better option would have been a pass across goal for a simple tap in. A minute later the Lambs were ahead. A good ball into the area by Bevan for Arscott to feed Shane Krac out wide for him to cut in and send in a low shot inside the upright. The second half was just seven minutes when the home side got back on level terms as Woolstencroft got through the Lambs defence to send in a shot that came back off the crossbar for Insley to react first to shoot home from close range. Woolstencroft then got to the by-line to cut the ball back for Insley to shoot but Short cleared off the line. A back pass from Short then saw Meeds miskick and luckily it was outside the goal for the ball to roll for a corner. Will Stringer then sent in a shot that Dave Jones fumbled for a Conday effort to deflect for a corner. Tavistock then had a chance to go ahead again as Arscott fed Krac out wide but his effort went over and the better option would have been a low cross. Sam Scott came on as a sub for Wadebridge on 65 minutes and made an immediate impact when he ran from the halfway line to feed Woolstencroft whose low shot hit the bottom of an upright and this time in went across goal to settle just inside the far post. Five minutes later the Lambs were back on level terms for the second time as Krac's inswinging corner held up in the wind to allow Stringer to get a touch at the far post. Jones saved from Arscott before he laid on a ball for sub Neil Kinsman to cross and Jimmy Kiely saw his shot go just over. The home side had another chance for all three points with two minutes left as Woolstencroft got through yet again but Meeds saved to earn the Lambs a fortunate point. l Forthcoming fixtures: On Saturday in the Carlsberg South Western, the Lambs are away to Penzance, kick off 2.30pm; in the East Cornwall league they are away to Lifton, kick-oof 2.30pm.
