MEAVY Primary School Tag Rugby team recently took part in the South West England Regional Tag Rugby festival at North Petherton in Somerset. The 30 teams taking part, who came from as far apart as Penzance, Cirencester and Bournemouth, were divided into six groups of five teams to play round- robin matches in the morning. Meavy played well during these matches, which produced a good win, but also some close losses. These results enabled Meavy to qualify for the middle level shield competition during the afternoon. This was another group competition and again Meavy played well in all these closely-fought matches. They were unfortunate to lose some of these matches, but did earn themselves a good win. Well done to these children for all their hard work and thanks to their coach Derek Parkin, which allowed a team from Meavy Primary School to qualify for this festival for the first time.
