Tavistock v Heathcoat
ON a beautiful summer?s day, Heathcoat won the toss and elected to bat.
On a good batting crack Heathcoat opener S Harding set off for two quick runs and was run out brilliantly by J McGahey.
Heathcoat were under pressure with tight bowling by Roesstorff and Nicholson but a great partnership by Smith and Moisan of 48 left Tavistock thinking. Then a great spell saw veteran Andy Gauler dismiss the next two batsmen.
At the break Heathcoat were 90 for 3 wickets and the game was evened out.
Then T Hill steadied the boat and anchored to score 36 not out and faced 36 overs which put pressure on the rest of the Heathcoat side.
Heathcoat had to play follow up cricket. Then Roesstorff came on and dismissed the next two batsmen. Not a normal day of bowling for the South African but he came back with 13 overs 42 runs and 2 wickets.
A Gauler was the pick with 2 wickets, 25 runs in 11 overs.
Heathcoat were 171 runs for 7 wickets in their allotted overs.
Tavistock in reply had a good opening partnership of 45 between Stephens and Roesstorff. But then Roesstorff played a rash shot and was caught behind.
Stephens played well for his 26 before being caught, again by Lewis. Searle batted well to reach 57 with good support from Luffman who played some good shots for his 28.
He was caught behind off Watson which brought Mortimer to the crease. He hit a calm 15 and was well supported by McGahey (7 not out) who saw the win through.
Tavistock beat Heathcoat by five wickets.
