Kelly College v MCC KELLY College played their annual fixture against the famous Marylebone Cricket Club, the MCC. The MCC elected to bat first and got off to a reasonable start, but accurate bowling from George Hall and James Falvey kept the run rate low and eventually, George Hall broke through. The bowling and fielding of Kelly was excellent and Joe Murphy took a superb catch in the slips to dismiss the Gloucestershire ex professional Skinner. Sean Hooper rode his luck on occasion to score a fast 98 to leave Kelly a total of 202 in approximately 40 overs. Kelly got off to a reasonable start with a stand of 34 between Falvey and MacManus but then lost four very quick wickets in the space of a few overs. This put the school on the back foot and apart from an excellent captain's innings from Jack Newton (61) the college were not in the chase. This event was a wonderful opportunity for the Kelly pupils and a brilliant day's cricket was had by all.
