THREE characters from Star Wars came to the aid of two supermarket charities in Callington last Thursday.
R2D2, Admiral Ackbar and a clone pilot stormtrooper had their photos taken with Tesco customers to raise money for Diabetes UK and the British Heart Foundation.
‘We are happy to come along to help out,’ said the stormtrooper, alias Ian Sims, a member of Plymouth’s Southwest Garrison.
‘We are a sci-fi club based in Plymouth. We dress up for charity and we help all charities in the local area.’
Marcus Holbrook, a ten-year-old Star Wars fan, said: ‘It was brilliant meeting the Southwest Garrison guys! I am really looking forward to the new film coming out.’
Tesco manager Paul Dunn said: ‘It was out of this world to have the Force in to help with our fundraising. Thanks to Ian and his colleagues, we are well on our way to breaking our fundraising record for the year.’
