I REFER to the letter from the Rev Philip Kyle, July 19, under the heading 'Sunday remains God's special day' where he yet again refers to the Nazarene Jesus Christ as everyone's 'Saviour'.
I do not accept and never will accept that a man came into this world two thousand years ago to 'save' me or anybody else for that matter, as we were all given free will at birth to work out our own salvations.
Neither am I gullible enough to accept the Virgin Birth, the Star of Bethlehem, or the Magi or three Wise Men at the birth of Christ.
I'm convinced that these stories were introduced into the Bible story from fables and legends borrowed from such places as Syria and Persia, for it should be remembered that people in those days would never have accepted the birth of a deity without some kinds of 'magical' events surrounding them.
I know the contents of this letter will ruffle and annoy some 'dyed in the wool' Christians but I hope they accept that I am entitled to my opinions as they are with theirs.
