Alphington v Tavistock Seconds Matt Barnes scored 109 and then took 3-23 to lead Alphington to a winning draw at home to Tavistock. After a shaky start of 54-2 after 24 overs, Barnes attacked the Tavistock bowlers to race to his century. For Tavistock Gliddon (1-33), Downham (1-42) and Jeffries (2-50) were the only bowlers to come out with wickets as Alphington closed their innings on 197-4. Tavistock did not have the greatest of starts losing Webber for just four but McGahey and Johns dug in to steady the innings to put on 93 for the second wicket before Johns was caught for 33. Milligan was given leg before wicket and was followed by McGahey soon after for 67. Then came the visitor?s collapse. Tavistock went from 132-3 to 146-8 and just had to settle for a losing draw in the end with Downham and Jeffries seeing out the last few overs to finish on 155-8. Alphington 14 points, Tavistock 7 points.
