THOUGH the weather is changing and the clocks have been put back the start sheets are still full for the Saturday's competition at Okehampton Golf Club. This week was no exception with another full field for the fourball better ball Stableford. Division One was won by Matt Soby and Martin Cox with an excellent 46pts. Second were Richard McFarlane and Kevin Perryman on 45; third John Mansell and Simon Gibbons 44 and fourth on 42 on countback were K Harkness and P Macdonald. Division Two was won by Mike Allen and Steve Fewings with 45pts; second John Haley and Ian Priestley 43; third Sean Lewis and Graham Brown 41 and fourth M Booth and A Vernon 39 on the back nine. Sunday was a beautiful day for the mixed greensomes Stableford. It was a closely fought competition with two pairs coming in with 39 points. Kath Mansell and Malcolm Hooper won on countback with Mary and David Keir in second. In third were Marcia and Alan Jones on the seventh. Wednesday?s ladies competition was a bit of a washout and only a few brave ladies braved the elements. Cherry James won with 29pts, with Maureen Willcocks second with 23. On October 20 the ladies played the last friendly match of the year at home against Tavistock. They played greensomes matchplay. Janet Hatch and Marcia Jones, Lin Atkinson and Eileen Piper, Pam Jarman and Doris Jewell and Jane Warren and Sue Glanville played for Okehampton and they finished the season with a 3-1 win.
