Bodmin Trophies Duchy division 4 east
Mary Tavy 5
Calstock 1
ONE would have thought after topping the table for the first time last week Tavy would be on top form, but nothing could be further from the truth as they put in a below-par performance.
The only positive thing was the scoreline and the fact that Scott Dent achieved what he has been threatening to do for a number of weeks — bag a hatful.
James Coole opened the scoring with a low shot across the face of the goal and Scott Dent followed suit to make it a comfortable first half.
Calstock never gave up and responded positively after the interval only for Tavy to break and Dent to grab his second.
The hat-trick was looming and it came from a scramble with the ball steered into the corner from six yards from the left boot.
Calstock pulled one back from Nick Tilbury who was becoming a handful for the Tavy defence. This turned out to be just a consolation but enough to spoil Simon Dundrow Smith's plan to keep a clean sheet.
Shaun James fired a ferocious shot goalbound from well outside the area only to see the Calstock keeper equal to it by turning it over the bar. Alan Grylls rounded off the result by adding his name to the scoresheet and ensuring Tavy's position remained at the top.
This week the teams meet again at Calstock.
