THE Ju Jitsu Tavistock Club was honoured twice by Amalgamated Warrior Arts, a national multi-style martial arts organisation. AWA has been running weekend training courses for several years. Umberto Bergonzini, instructor of the Ju Jitsu club in Tavistock, received an invitation to teach at their latest course. Umberto says: ?I was extremely honoured by the invitation as it came from high exponents in the martial arts world. ?It was a great and enjoyable experience to teach well over 100 people from all over the UK. It was also good for the club as it raised its profile and proved once again how professional and dedicated we all are. This was demonstrated by the fact that Simon Scott, one of my students, was a warded a plaque for Best Student on the course.? Simon Scott said the range and mix of disciplines and techniques was stimulating. ?The evident enthusiasm shown by all instructors was infectious. I was astonished but honoured to be awarded the plaque for Top Student on the course,? he said. The club meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 8pm and 9.30pm.
